Heal cold sores in a hurry using these proven methods. If you will let me, I will give you some great ideas you can use today to speed heal cold sores.

To heal cold sores, you will find there are but two basic methods. Either method can be used alone. However, using both at the same time will give you the best outcome when you want to heal cold sores.

Your body can and will heal cold sores on its own. But it is a slow process. It often takes three to four weeks - or more. You do not have to tolerate the discomfort of a cold sore that long with what we know today.

To heal cold sores in half the usual time, we need to understand what causes the actual sore. So, before we go on, let us take a quick look at how a cold sore is created.

The cold sore virus is the herpes simplex virus - either type 1 or type 2. This microscopic virus drills into a cell and forces the cell to create virus clones. Once full, the new virus is released by destruction of the host cell.

First, redness and swelling occur as the cells create new virus. Then the host cells break open, creating the open wound. We are very fortunate that this virus only creates sores on the surface, or it would pose a serious health risk.

Following are the two methods you must choose from - if you want to quickly heal cold sores.

1. HEAL COLD SORES BY TREATING THEM INTERNALLY.

Your first step, if you experience several cold sore breakouts apiece year, is to take a good multi-vitamin daily.

Without a doubt, this is the most important first step for fast healing and defending yourself from future outbreaks. A good multi-vitamin will strengthen your immunity against this parasite virus - and all other viruses also.

In addition to a regular multi-vitamin regimen, taking lysine supplements during an outbreak will stop, or slow down, the virus replication process.

Lysine capsules are cheap and convenient. High lysine foods, such as farm and fish, will help also. During an outbreak, 2000 milligrams to 4000 milligrams per day is common. 4 ounces of flounder contains 3000 milligrams.

It is simple. To heal cold sores fast, you must stop the virus from reproducing and send it back to the latent state.

If you suffer from re-occurring outbreaks, quite likely you are starving from calcium deficiency. Your body needs calcium to keep your body alkaline and highly oxygenated. Viruses cannot operate in a high alkaline body.

If you start taking 1000 to 3000 milligrams of calcium per day, you will be amazed. It will make a noticeable difference how often and how severe your sores will be. A good vitamin will already wage the minimum recommended 1000 milligrams.

2. HEAL COLD SORES BY EXTERNAL APPLICATION OF REMEDIES.

The most common way to heal cold sores is with a good topical cold sore treatment. This can be a salve, ointment, oil or lotion. The direct approach produces the fastest results, by far.

Topical remedies that contain metal generally work well. Zinc is a great healing mineral, both externally and internally. If the salve does not contain the sulfate or gluconate forms of zinc, refrain it. Other metal forms will not absorb well enough to be of any value.

Essential oils, such as garlic or olive oil, are great cold sore treatments. They will stop any virus in its tracks when placed directly on the infected area. Faster healing will then be the result.

After the sore has actually opened up, the alteration is done and it is now in the healing phase. Using a wet tea bag, on top of the oils mentioned above, will heal cold sores very fast.

Cleaning the outbreak regularly with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol is essential to prevent spreading the infection or re-occurrence of the same sore. It also prevents the chance of bacterial infection.

Your body can heal cold sores without your help. But, if you want to get rid of them quickly, then help your body along with the cold sore treatment options in this article. They will cut the duration of the sore by an honest third.

Truly, this will mean a shortened period of discomfort, and will get back your social life much sooner. And, quite likely, you could experience far fewer of these social interruptions in the future.

Using internal remedies to support the external remedies you are using is the best and quickest road to heal cold sores rapidly.
