What You Should Know About Teeth Whitening Kits

by Ray Lam

You’ve been to the stores; you’ve seen the rows of teeth whitening products acquirable for you to pick up for a relatively low price. There are practically hundreds of different teeth whitening products that you can use at home - from toothpaste that can make your teeth three shades whiter to mild bleach based gels to strips with whitening agent on them which are marketed as “dentist strength.”

If you are looking to make your teeth multiple shades whiter, there really is no substitute for the experience that you can get by going to a dentist and having them do a laser teeth whitening treatment to you. This is simply the best way to make your teeth brilliant in about an hour’s worth of time. However, if you want to only make your teeth a shade or two whiter for a mild improvement, you should take advantage of a home whitening kit, as they are much less expensive and they don’t require a visit to your dentist.

Another teeth whitening kit for home use is one that applies strips coated with the whitening gel directly to your teeth. These strips are usually used once a day, and are left on the teeth for at least 30 minutes at a time. The good news about this type of system is that it is very cushy to use, and the results are generally very good. The disadvantage to this type of teeth whitening kit is generally the cost, since it can run quite a bit higher than the gel and brush technique. For a home whitening kit, you are most likely to see your desired results with this type of system.

Household items like cups, spoons, bowls, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide can establish useful, and for sure these are acquirable in your home.

Because the chemicals used in teeth bleaching kits can be harsh some people have been known to develop sensitive gums through overexposure to the chemicals. That’s why it is important to follow the directions on the package and not to use these products for longer than the recommended time. Some people think that by using the whitening kit for longer or by using more of the product than recommended they will speed up the whitening process. This is unlikely to be the case and can often lead to problems later, including sensitive gums as already mentioned.
