Anti Ageing Skin Cream, Is It Worth The Money ?

by Ian Richards

Anti ageing skin care is something that concerns both men and women and they are always looking for the quick fix to make them look younger. When it comes to a non surgical facelift, people usually try anti ageing skin cream, which is why it is a multi million pound industry. What is not realised is that by the time they need to get younger looking skin, the alteration will have been done and you are left with a alteration limitation situation. If you start to protect your skin when you are young, it will age more slowly.

The major culprit, when it comes to skin ageing, is the sun but don’t think that you are alright because you always wear your bourgeois 30 when you sun bathe. This will help of course, but you are mainly dealing with UV-A rays. The real agents of ageing are the UV-B rays that come down whether the sky is blue or not. This means that you are being affected by these all year round.

So, unless you had a very knowledgeable mum, you have been affected by these ageing rays since the day you were born. In the school playground, out playing and now when you go shopping or go to work these rays are slowly ageing your skin. To be protected, you need to be wearing sun blocker at all times, not only on your grappling but also your neck and hands which are the most overlooked area. It would be a good intent to substitute your usual moisturiser for a good sun screen cream.

You will have seen countless advertisements for anti ageing skin care products on the television and in magazines, many featuring actors in white coats pretending to work in a hi-tech work setting to give the impression that your cream is the latest in scientific discovery. It also will be trying to convey a sense that these preparations have been thoroughly tested, are innocuous to use and are extremely effective.

Remember, these are only advertisements and they are designed to make you buy the product. The reality is that a lot of special ingredients are really chemicals that have been around for years and have only just been started to be place into grappling creams. One good thing is that because they are not new, the chances of any problems happening are kept to a minimum.

For example, one ingredient, Retinol, is another study for vitamin A. It is used as a skin preparation but in order to be effective it has to be used at quite a high strength and can only be obtained with a doctors prescription. The level of Retinol found in over the counter skin cream will have little or no effect although, as with all these preparations, individuals may derive some benefit through using them. You may well be better off spending your money on foods rich in vitamin A, such as leafy vegetables, certain fruit or liver.

Time is the enemy of any anti ageing skin preparation and it is difficult to know the age of the blow you are buying as, unlike food, there is no date printed on the packaging. As soon as these preparations are manufactures, they start to degrade. Air and moisture will attack them, making them less effective and this process becomes accelerated, once you have opened it, so always follow the instructions on how to store them.

Given that most of these preparations tend to be quite expensive and there is often not a lot in the jar, you may wish to consider making your own. The base can be an inexpensive moisturising cream which helps to take the other ingredients into the skin. There are many different recipes for anti ageing skin cream acquirable and it shouldn’t be too difficult to find the other constituents. When preparing your skin cream, you have to be very hygienic in all you do. Only prepare small amounts of the cream to ensure it remains fresh. As different preparations work on different types of skin you will probably have to do some experimentation until you find the one that is just right for you. When you do find the right combination, you will not only have great looking skin but you will have saved yourself a considerable amount of money.
